Nuon Sothero visits the UK to share his life story

Nuon Sothero (Thero), President of the Future Light Organization (FLO), visited the UK at the invitation of Little Acorns to share his remarkable and deeply personal life story.

Thero spoke openly about his journey, from being a five-year-old child imprisoned in a Khmer Rouge work camp to surviving one of the darkest periods in modern history. Against extraordinary odds, he went on to build a life dedicated to protecting and nurturing orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children in Cambodia through his leadership of FLO.

Alongside the Little Acorns trustees, Thero presented to audiences at Howden Broking Group in London, Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club, and Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club. Each event provided a space for honest conversation, reflection, and learning, allowing audiences to better understand Cambodia’s recent history and the long-term impact of trauma on its people.

Thero’s words held each room in silence. Listeners responded with deep emotion, warmth, and respect as he shared a story of resilience, compassion, and hope. His visit helped raise awareness of FLO’s work, strengthened connections with supporters in the UK, and ensured that a story which must not be forgotten continues to be heard, remembered, and passed on.
