Inspire for the Future

Having visited Cambodia so many times, I am fully aware of the limited opportunities for children growing up in the country’s poorest provinces.

So, I hatched a plan to visit schools in these areas and provide inspiring, motivational, and interactive presentations. It’s been a weeklong road trip of over 1,500 KM.

The incredibly positive response from all the children overwhelmed us throughout the week. We have received wonderful messages from the school principals. This was the first time a westerner had visited and provided such a presentation.

We travelled with our Cambodian friends who run the Future Light Organization (FLO), which my charity Little Acorns supports. Amongst them is Nuon So Thero, who is a hero of mine. He survived the brutal Khmer Rouge campaign as a child and has built 100’s of schools across Cambodia. We saw the first school he built. This school was constructed deliberately in the home of the Khmer Rouge as a symbolic rejection of their anti-education regime. Humbled.

Our visit to the 6 schools included the hour-long motivation and interactive presentation, followed by a team building challenge and opportunity to learn how to play badminton. A joyous experience, which has inspired us to work even harder to support Cambodia’s youngest generation.

About Little Acorns

Little Acorns currently supports vulnerable / orphaned children in Cambodia.

Our focus is to support the Future Light Organization (FLO). FLO’s needs align with our own objectives enabling us to support their day to day running costs including food, electricity, fire wood, medical / hygiene supplies. This close relationship enables us to witness first-hand that funds raised are used appropriately.
